"One day a driver called from Staten Island, NY. His car was
in a transmission shop, and he was quoted a repair price of about
$1,200. We recommended that he take the car to our facility. The repair
wound up costing approximately $850 including tax.
Keith:
"A dentist called. While he had been on vacation his rental
car’s trunk had been vandalized. The rental agency gave him
a repair bill of $624, which he thought excessive. We asked him
to fax the bill to us. We performed a computerized audit, and one
of our senior adjusters determined the true cost should have been
$267. We provided an affidavit to that effect. The car rental agency
may take him to small claims court for the difference, but they
probably won’t. They know they can’t win."
